A minor victory!

June 7, 2010 by Nicole 9 Comments

At least on the writing front.  I have successfully (I think) merged my new beginning in with the rest of the proofed MS.  Tomorrow I intend on printing it out, double sided and re-proofing/editing it.  But the big thing is that there should now be NOTHING major that needs adjusting.. I think.. I hope…
Well we’ll see anyway *grin*.  I did consider reading some of it in a video post but I’ve scrapped that idea after discovering I’m very bad at reading out loud.  I think it’s because I’m a speed reader but I tend to mix three lines together as I’m trying to catch up with my eyes & mind and then I swear.. a lot..  Which isn’t really appropriate *giggle*.
On a random note it’s taking me a bit to get used to hearing my own voice.  It sounds so high! I’m sure my voice is deeper.. I guess I’ll get used to it.

Congrats on the 'merge'- editing is such a horrific part of the process but reading outloud is a good way to catch things. Good luck!

don't feel bad. reading for an audience is tricky. People who can do it well are highly paid and sought actors. Audio books are where they often end up. Did you know often libraries have them? I love listening to them in the car to kill commutes. My Wheel of Time complete collection is huge, and takes about six to eight months to listen to. Reading is much faster.

Yay for victories!!! I found your blog over at Creepy Query Girl's blog!

Good luck with the editing process, I was so excited when I completed my MS but when I got to the editing part I wanted to pull my hair out… wait I'm still there… crap.

Congrats on getting your MS to that point! It's so exciting. I love how each pass through editing makes it so much better. I swear I think I might just enjoy editing a little better than I do writing the first draft.
