Plugging away at it

My most current review is coming along slowly but surely. Ideally I want to re-write a chapter a day but I’m really hoping to make it two chapters. Possibly wishful thinking, we’ll see. It’s interesting this time round because characters are really coming into ‘their own’ with the re-written sections – which is what you want!

Now it’s just making sure that each POV change is obvious and easy to read. In some ways the story is kind of like a reality show in that you get to see inside a lot of the characters heads. I know many people freak out at POV switches but I firmly believe if written well they enrich the story.

I must be nearly on the right track, when I explained to a beta reader what I’m doing and she frowned then said.
“You’re not changing the story though right? And there’s lots of it that I like, it’s not going to be drastically different?”

Which gave me a happy glow! No not drastically different, but hopefully sharper, snappier and quicker. Not that it’s slow at all but the new cut I think (I hope) reads better.

So back to it! On to the next chapter (and finish the current chapter..). Good luck to those with WIP!
