I read and in fact own the Twilight books. And as much as people like to mock them let me point out that they are well written enough to attract hordes and hordes of somewhat insane fans – young and old!
My review of the series was, that it’s very enjoyable, a tad old fashioned in view but in a ‘vintage’ appealing way. We like the somewhat possessive boyfriend and required male best friend that of course has a crush on the lead. We like the hint of ‘damsel in distress’ attitude that Bella exhibits..
Actually scratch that! Others might like that but I, as my blog title firmly states, DON’T!
I love the last book – specifically the second half of the last book. I think ‘superhero’ Bella rocks. I love the description of the tiny cottage (surprise, surprise *grin*) and that she’s finally his ‘equal’. Cause that’s what soul-mates are – Equals. Not identical twins who love all the same things but a couple on the same wave length with complimentary strengths and weaknesses.
So when I read this review (link at top!) and she said the line that I’ve been bemoaning to friends about for a while now it got my attention – Bella gets a backbone!!! Hurrah! Cue fireworks!! The same with – no more bad make-up!! Hurrah! No more stuttering (really WTF was that about?? She did it like twice in the book!) Hurrah!! Humour!! Hurrah!!
Really when it came down to it Stephanie wrote the book for herself and her number one fan, her sister. Not for millions of mopey Emo fans. The books don’t come across Emoy at all. I’m actually nearly excited at the thought of watching it (emphasis on nearly). No I won’t see it at the cinemas as that would result in mass murder as I’d feel the need to kill every appalling example of airheaded female who shrieks (LOUDLY) in delight at each ‘smoldering look’ or shirt removal moment….*shudder* but I’ll certainly keep an eye out for it when it goes to DVD.
Maybe I should plan a girls weekend at the hut and take the portable DVD player with us..hmmmm

I've nothing against Kristin Stewart, really. I've seen her in a few other movies and it seems she plays the same type of character: the quiet, mopey introspective girl.
I just saw her on the cover of a magazine SMILING and I didn't recognize her…I wish there were more energy and 'zing' to her Bella…maybe it'll come out as she gets a backbone. Maybe?
The best things about this book is that it's gotten so many young teens into reading again. I'm going to see it in the movies as well 🙂
just got home from seeing it! it. was. awesome!
new stab
critique welcome.

Good post – I own the Twilight books too, and… they're nice. Not brilliantly written, but there's that 'something' that attracted tons of readers, so Stephanie Meyer did something right. 🙂
But I definitely can't stand Twilight fans, obsessive ones at least. All right, fawn a little, I can stand a poster or two in your bedroom, but please… dignity. Keep dignity. 😀
Anywho, I haven't even seen New Moon yet. I want to see the movies sometime, but… no hurry. 🙂 I'd rather see them with friends than by myself anyway. A girl's night out sounds like a good idea, I just might try that. 😀
I've only read the first book. I downloaded the second on my Kindle because it was a good price. I'll definitely read it when I get the time.
I didn't care too much for the first two movies but the third looks like a winner. I'm having trouble getting my wife and friends to check it out with me.
I'm one of the very much older group who read the first two Twilight books and thought they were well written. I liked them. I especially liked the movie of book two. I was impressed.
Thanks for commenting on my blog. You mentioned maybe trying a new template. Go for it! It's really easy to do, and fun. (BTW, hope I don't offend, but at least for me, black isn't a good background. It's very hard on the eyes.)
Have a lovely weekend, from me and my daughter!!
I read somewhere that "Eclipse" was the best of the Twilight movies, and that this made it only the third worst vampire movie of all times…
I can't judge, though, since I've neither seen the movies nor read the books. As a means of entertainment I'm sure I would love it, but there are so many other things that entertain me at the moment, so I don't really feel the need to dive into the whole vampire thing.
Anyway, what I really wanted to come here to say was that there is a little something for you at my blog today 🙂
Hi Cruella! I saw it I saw it (your post not the movie *lol*) Thank you!! 😉
And Ann – thanks for the tip and you and your daughter have an awesome weekend too – gosh I love friday nights!!
