Blogs I am giving the.. One Lovely Blog Award!

July 13, 2010 by Nicole 10 Comments

I forgot the rules for this award.. so I am selecting 10 blogs that I really enjoy reading and awarding this very pretty award and making up my own rules!

The rules are:
  1. Post announcing you’ve received this award and link back to the person you received it from.
  2. Pass it on to between 5-10 blogs you love to read and haven’t awarded previously.
  3. Let each winner know you’ve given them an award (make a comment on their latest post)
  4. And be sure to offer links on your post to each blog you’re awarding so others can check out these awesome blogs.
  5. And of course you are also required to post 5 embarrassing things you’ve done in your life *grin* can be photos too.  I like to spice up the awards *hee*
And to reiterate I received this award from the fabulous Jackee at Winded Words
And the One Lovely Blog Award goes to
Fiction Groupie  Congrats on your 1 year of blogging!  An inspiration to us all *grin*
A Dead Man Fell From The Sky An intriguing blog with lots of information on the Classical period (think ancient Greece and Rome).  Classics was the one class I loved at Varsity.
A Merry Heart An aspiring writer like so many of us but with a fun, quirky family.  If her last post doesn’t make you LOL then something’s wrong *grin*
A Novel Idea A fun and cute blog that aims to bring children and literature together.  I love this idea!  Kids should always be encouraged to read and Mary makes a huge amount of effort with this gorgeous and endearing blog.  I love it
A Writers Reality A blog by an actual writer *grin* nothing too flashy and no skiting but genuinely useful and/or interesting posts.  And I still get teary when I see the pictures of her beautiful dog Duke who’s passed on.
Answering the What If A blog following Angie and her transition towards becoming a published author like so many of us.  If you stop by her blog please take the time to read the first three chapters of her novel.  Congrats on the new addition to the family Angie!  He’s adorable.
Babbling About Books The blogger is an eccentric redhead – does this make me biased? Probably *lol* I really enjoy this blog, she has fun spunky posts that are always entertaining.
Becoming Jane Not for everyone but I LOVE Pride and Prejudice and really enjoy the posts from the various submitters on this blog.  I should download Kindle for PC and get some Jane Austin books.. (but I soo want a kindle)
Bossy Betty An enjoyable read by Ms Bossy Betty (I love the blog title!) who wants to be the crazy cat lady when she ‘grows’ up *grin* I think it’s a must read for that alone ; p
Cactus Needle Quilts As I’ve mentioned before I love sewing and this is one of the quilt blogs I follow – it has some stunning pictures of quilts and I’m in complete awe of the beautiful Phoenix quilt I saw on it.
And five embarrassing things I’ve done..
  1. Once I managed to walk around my entire school without realizing the zip at the back of my skirt was undone (after P.E)
  2. A spectacular face-plant while tramping past a group of cute guys…
  3. Had my full skirt balloon up (like nearly over my head) as I was about to cross the road and gave a car load of guys an eyeful.  Even worse I was wearing nude knickers and they all started shrieking “BRITNEY! BRITNEY!”… (note to self, don’t wear loose skirts in Wellington – it’s not known as The Windy Capital for nothing!)
  4. After lecturing Glenn while we were at the hut to be careful of the lantern because I’d lowered it, I then managed to head-butt it as I stepped down from the window seats after pulling the curtains.  I did it hard enough to make myself fall to my knees while Glenn hurried towards me saying “I’m not laughing, I swear I’m not laughing”.  I vaguely recall replying “why not? I would”.  Ahh they do say pride comes before a fall *lol*
  5. I turned up to my first mufti day at high-school (a cool all-girls college, totally unlike my previous schools..) wearing high waisted light denim jeans, a crop t-shirt and an over sized guys shirt with the sleeves rolled up.  I topped it off with giant wooden zebra earrings (see pic)..  Needless to say many people remember me just from those earrings.

A nice big pink dasie in the hair would of been the perfect accessory to the ear rings.

Hey! Thanks so much for the award! Betty Is a rampant rule-breaker and a rebel of sorts. (Sometimes I don't even return the carts to the corral at the supermarket!) So, you may notice that I might not follow the rules of this award, but I do appreciate it! Now, I must go get on my zebra earrings and get out there and greet the world as the recipient of this fine award! Thank you!
