Ugh tax

July 27, 2010 by Nicole 12 Comments

And oh yes tax!!
We’ve just been puzzling our way through Glenn’s tax return as we do once a year.  I swear these things are designed to make you feel stupid!  The tooing and throughing between questions (no idea how to spell those words) and trying to figure out whether or not he claims this and that.   ARGH!  A bit of a nightmare really.
Until we reached the end..
And realised that his refund will pay back the money we’ve had to juggle through his ‘dry spell’ at work.  Cue major cartwheels!!!!  All in all it’s been an AWESOME day today *grin* Monetary matters are sorted now.  We walked the dogs and missed the torrential rain by all of 2 minutes and I’ve got through chapter 19 without the major re-write I expected!  Feeling very happy right now.  What about you?  Had something simple made your day today?  Or at least made you smile *grin*

Taxes suck for everyone. One year I made a mistake on my State taxes — they were kind enough to point it out two years later. I think it cost us $500 in the end. UGH. But that's the last time I'll make THAT mistake.

Congrats on the refund…that's always good news!

My good news for the day was setting a lunch date tomorrow with a girlfriend I haven't seen for a long time!

I hate it when you do all the hard work for taxes and end up discovering you OWE a lot. It really makes the hard work feel very, very pointless. So yay that this wasn't the case for you 🙂

I hate taxes too. And I guess it get way worse in the US when you're published. You have to do them quarterly! Yuck.

Glad you can replenish your money stores. Money woes are too stressful. And hooray on your WIP.

My good news is that I had a tough critique yesterday but I did the necessary changes and my manuscript is better. The changes that didn't sit well with me, I didn't do.

@ Cruella – yes that truly sucks!
@ SH – …it's gonna make me blush isn't it??
@ Christina – daunting but worth it (if I got it right)
@ Melissa – I might actually enjoy that for the first year -cause it means your published!! *grin*
@ Theresa – Money woes are annoying and I'll happily wave goodbye to them 🙂 And yay for a good critique! I don't think I've ever had one were all the suggestions were right but there's always some good points for improvement 🙂

I'm so glad to hear you've had such good news – I absolutely LOVE days like that! Something simple that made my day…hmmm. Some women I know were over to my house for the first time today when I hosted the neighborhood bible study, and they oohed and aahed over my semi-newly redecorated kitchen – that made me feel great!
