Book Trailers

August 24, 2010 by Nicole 8 Comments

Do you want one?  Have you seen one?  And what would be the outline of your ideal book trailer?  These all came to thought today when I came across this site

I have seen a couple of book trailers before and it’s kind of cool to have them narrowed down into good and bad.  I guess I can understand the reason for having them but some are soooo wrong!
If you want to make a simple/cheap book trailer I found this blog article which makes it seem pretty straight forward.
Have you got a trailer you want to show off?  Pop the link in the comments section so we can all have a nosey *grin*

I've seen three. One was great. One was terrible. And one was okay. I'll check out the site because I've been curious what it would be like to make one.

I do have a book trailer for one of my ebooks. It didn't seem to help very much. Some of the trailers out there are very effective, though. I like the trailer for "The Forest of hands and Teeth".

Starring this post for future reference. I'm a long ways from QUERYING, so even further from needing a trailer, but they fascinate me, so I'm sure I'm going to be wanting to keep those links close!

    Thanks for sharing!

I'm still undecided – I don't think I like the use of 'stock' photos. I'd want it all to synch

Hi Nicole! I don't have any book trailers…yet! Maybe if I were to get a book published I'd do something like this. As long as it was short and cheap!

I made one for kicks for my last project–it was kind of a fun way to think differently about writing to put it into visual and audial parameters instead of words! It's not terribly professional, but it was fun to do–would take more time on a "real" one. 🙂 I used my own photos instead of stock, which I think helped the final outcome and made it more fun for me. I have yet to see a book trailer I've fallen in love with, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed! It can be difficult to mix the two different mediums in that way, but I believe it's possible to produce one that reflects the greatness of the book.
