Sex scenes

February 3, 2011 by Nicole 8 Comments

*gulp* Yes book two contains them.  No not copious amounts because A. I hate reading heaps of them, they can get rather dreary and B. I don’t know if I’d survive that many…. With a face as red as I have at the moment I might possibly burn down the house..
It’s kinda silly I know but these characters are my ‘friends’ and what they get up to in the bedroom, I feel, is entirely up to them and theirs!  It really is times likes these when I have to go back over the ‘character sheets’ so to make them seem more like characters and not people I know *grin*.
At the moment I’m thinking 4 scenes one per main character and that seems enough to me!  Well that and I figure I can just make ‘suggestions’ of them disappearing for fun ;p

Oh who knows – I might enjoy them *hee*

Just once per character? Surely some of your characters are more lustful than that :p

XD I already got an impression a certain someone already did things with her big strong man! Hey, twenty-something book, so long as they're not straight up erotica go for it! Predominantly female audience at the moment, anyways, right?

(and nobody will be calling it YA again, that's for sure)

Well, yes, there is always the fade to black option. My only advice is that when you write them do NOT think about who might read them. Write as you think it would play out between the characters and in your edit you can decide how much detail is too much…or perhaps add more, hehehe. 😉

I think less is more, so your decision sounds wise to me. Too much, and it doesn't have an impact. The anticipation of it is often times better than the scene itself!

For the genre you're writing, you don't need to spend too much time in the bedroom, so that's a good thing since it makes you uncomfortable.
