(like the blog image? Created for free on Canva)
Canva is the most amazing free online design webtool. You can design basically anything on it! They have preformatted templates for all manner of things; Facebook banner, Blog header, Twitter advert, invitations, business cards, AND, ebook covers! Originally designed for graphic design students who needed to learn the basics, and have an easy/free place to do it, it started off simple as Fusion Books, where students could create their own yearbooks. But the founders, Melanie Perkins and Cliff Obrecht, quickly realised that this sort of technology could be used by many, in many ways. With a little tinkering and remarketing Canva was launched with the collaboration of tech-cofounder, Cameron Adams.
How does Canva work?
Canva is a dead easy, drag and drop, format. You pick the template (or enter the proportions) and then it gives you background options. There are free options, and paid, BUT, you don’t have to pay unless you choose to download a design created with paid options. Also, you can download any personal images to use at no cost, so with a little planning there’s really no reason to HAVE to use any paid options – unless you want to. They have a variety of fonts, and all manner of design features like, stickers, textures, straighteners, transparency, speech bubbles, and more. You can download a Canva app for Apple (not android unfortunately) and literally have a professional looking design in minutes.
I adore using Canva, and recommend it 100%. The people are so helpful and their blog is an absolute wreathe of information. You cannot go wrong with exploring it!
