My parents are gone… *sniff*

July 31, 2010 by Nicole 4 Comments

They just left and now the driveway is huge and empty…*sigh*  Okay sure it’ll be nice to have our space entirely to ourselves again but I miss them already *wail*…  *sniff* ..

We had my birthday dinner last night at a local Chinese restaurant and it was fun!  16 of us around a giant round table with heaps of food!  The lazy Susan proved most entertaining for the kids in attendance and adults hastily grabbed for it when the food started spinning, chinking off all the glasses *giggle*  The restaurateur was on her best behaviour so only glowered occasionally at us all *grin* and didn’t have a hernia at the sight of the kids clambering for the GIANT T.V   We got to watch Americas Funniest Home Videos with dessert *grin* was great!  Loi totally spoilt me with gorgeous stationery AND a book voucher – died and gone to heaven stuff here : ) As soon as my re-write is finished I’m off to spend it!  And remember how I was frantically learning photoshop before my 30 days run out?  I mentioned it to Dad when we were at Nana’s yesterday clearing away branches and he thought he might have something similar.  We get home and he pulls out a full legit copy of Photoshop V6 – I was doing cartwheels!!  Now I have to go back to the library for V6 books but who cares!  I have a full copy of photoshop!! Weeee

It’s my BIRTHDAY!

July 29, 2010 by Nicole 14 Comments

It’s my birthday!!  That’s right I am now 28 years old.  Though I may pretend I’m 27 till I’m 29 – I prefer odd numbers ; p  When I woke this morning Glenn surprised me with a cake he’d baked!   And he really thought about it *giggle*.  He presented me with a lemon yoghurt cake (yep he made it from scratch! Impressive or what!) and he’d iced it with store brought almond icing as he knows I love almond flavoring.  The result is one heck of an intense cake experience and there’s no way I’m gonna be able to scoff this one *hee*.  I wanted to post a pic but he’s a perfectionist and doesn’t want anyone to see his ‘retarded’ cake as he called it.  C’mon it’s only a little lopsided ; p

And to celebrate here is the Darwin Award for the month.  I picked it specially for Sian who frequently chants ‘train’ when idiots do this in front or behind her *grin*
A one track mind
(Confirmed true by Darwin)
(16 July 2008, Italy) Gerhard, 68, was queued at a traffic light in his Porsche Cayenne SUV. Before one reaches the light, there is a railroad crossing, and Gerhard had not let the queue progress forward far enough before he drove onto the tracks. As you might imagine, given Murphy’s Law, a train was coming.
The safety bars came down, leaving the Porsche trapped on the rails. According to witnesses, it took the driver awhile to realize he was stuck. Finally he jumped from the car and started to run–straight toward the oncoming train, waving his arms in an attempt to save his expensive SUV!
The attempt was partly successful. The car received less damage than its owner, who landed 30 meters away. Attempts to revive him were unsuccessful.
The moral of the story? Momentum always wins.
