OMG – you mean I might actually enjoy Eclipse??

I read and in fact own the Twilight books. And as much as people like to mock them let me point out that they are well written enough to attract hordes and hordes of somewhat insane fans – young and old!
My review of the series was, that it’s very enjoyable, a tad old fashioned in view but in a ‘vintage’ appealing way.  We like the somewhat possessive boyfriend and required male best friend that of course has a crush on the lead.  We like the hint of ‘damsel in distress’ attitude that Bella exhibits..
Actually scratch that! Others might like that but I, as my blog title firmly states, DON’T!
I love the last book – specifically the second half of the last book.  I think ‘superhero’ Bella rocks. I love the description of the tiny cottage (surprise, surprise *grin*) and that she’s finally his ‘equal’.  Cause that’s what soul-mates are – Equals.  Not identical twins who love all the same things but a couple on the same wave length with complimentary strengths and weaknesses.
So when I read this review (link at top!) and she said the line that I’ve been bemoaning to friends about for a while now it got my attention – Bella gets a backbone!!!  Hurrah! Cue fireworks!! The same with – no more bad make-up!! Hurrah! No more stuttering (really WTF was that about?? She did it like twice in the book!) Hurrah!!  Humour!! Hurrah!!
Really when it came down to it Stephanie wrote the book for herself and her number one fan, her sister.  Not for millions of mopey Emo fans.  The books don’t come across Emoy at all.  I’m actually nearly excited at the thought of watching it (emphasis on nearly).  No I won’t see it at the cinemas as that would result in mass murder as I’d feel the need to kill every appalling example of airheaded female who shrieks (LOUDLY) in delight at each ‘smoldering look’ or shirt removal moment….*shudder*  but I’ll certainly keep an eye out for it when it goes to DVD.

Maybe I should plan a girls weekend at the hut and take the portable DVD player with us..hmmmm
