Okay. I’m sure everyone has had one of these moments and I would LOVE it if you’d share it in the comments.
As you may or may not know I’m a receptionist so part of my job is to answer the phones. In previous jobs I’ve been an EA a PA, had various Bank roles and a stint in a call centre. Reception is a conscious step backwards for me. I wanted a quiet easy role after my last roles and as I had to leave my previous role due to the markets instability I wanted a safe dependable role. And I love my job! I have the best view ever, a great team to work with and my own space to ‘think’ in.
I’ve had all sorts of insulting/inappropriate comments made to me over the years but this one I got today tops it. And it’s so subtly rude – I think I should use it in a book sometime.
A gentleman rang and began to explain his financial stuff to me, I politely interrupted him and explained that I’d need to transfer him to an advisor as, being the receptionist I’m not qualified to discuss that with him (according to NZX rules). To which he responded with a surprised
“Oh… I’m sorry, you sounded so professional”..
…gee… thanks… *lol*
